Botshilu Private Hospital is proud to announce its renewed commitment to the community through its CSI project, BotshiluCares, by supporting local NGO homes. In celebration of the annual Nelson Mandela International Day, we visited and supported four local NGO homes on Thursday, 18 July 2024, from 09:00 to 16:00.
This initiative follows our project launched back in February 2020 aimed at uplifting disadvantaged communities within a 10-kilometre radius of the hospital. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic (which halted many of our planned community projects at the time). we are reigniting our efforts to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
Boitumelo Mphake, Stakeholder Relationship and Marketing Manager, stated, “Our commitment to the community has always been a cornerstone of Botshilu Private Hospital’s mission. We are excited to resume our BotshiluCares initiatives, especially on such a significant day as Mandela Day. Through these efforts, we hope to bring positive changes in the community and support to those who need it most.”
Four NGO Homes visited:
- Leratong Old Age Centre, New Eersterus, Hammanskraal
- Thabang Old Age Centre, Block S, Soshanguve
- Xola Disability Centre, Block JJ, Soshanguve
- Tumelo Home and Hospice, Block B, Mabopane
Botshilu Private Hospital, together with its doctors and other healthcare professionals and stakeholders, delivered much-needed supplies and donations to these homes. Ampath Laboratories, has generously donated essential items such as urns, a bar fridge for medication, and a kettle. Additional contributions have been made by Cristal Cleaning, Empact Catering Group and other partners.
Gerrit van den Berg, Hospital General Manager, emphasised, “We recognise the vital role these NGO homes play in our community. Our donations and support are just one way we can help address their immediate needs and improve their daily operations. We are grateful for our partners’ contributions and we have no doubt that we had a successful and impactful Mandela Day.”
Why This Initiative Matters:
- Leratong Old Age Centre: Established in 2006, this facility urgently needs support due to incomplete infrastructure and lack of government grants. Our donations aim to improve living conditions and provide essential medical supplies.
- Thabang Old Age Centre: Catering to psychiatric patients, this home needs various medical and household items to ensure the well-being of its residents.
- Xola Disability Centre: Recently expanded but facing security and maintenance challenges, this centre needs our help to ensure the safety and comfort of its residents.
- Tumelo Home and Hospice: A well-maintained facility that still requires specific items to continue providing high-quality care to its 32 residents.
