Medical Doctor in Academia: Prof. Mashudu Tshifularo is a highly distinguished Otorhinolaryngologist and full academic Professor of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgeon at the University of Pretoria (UP), where he serves as Chairperson and Head of Department and Chief Specialist. With over 30 years of experience in ENT and Head and Neck specialist, Professor Tshifularo has established himself as both an exceptional, innovative clinician and dedicated educator, training medical students and specialist ENT surgeons for many years since 1995. He has trained more local Black South Africans. He is proud to declare that he has trained and mentored more South African Blacks than all local tertiary universities combined between MEDUNSA/SMU and the University of Pretoria since he was a professor 25 years ago. Five of his graduate specialists are HOD in different institutions (Limpopo, SMU, WSU, UKZN and UP)-he has trained many first Black South African Lady who is first female HOD at UKZN, the WSU professor is his product, the first of his professor products is a very honourable contribution he has made for Blacks, Indians and coloured in ENT specialists. His medical training spans some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including the University of Natal (UKZN), the United Kingdom/Glasgow University as ENT specialist, MEDUNSA, and the College of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). His exceptional contributions to medicine have been recognised through numerous accolades, departments, the prestigious Hamilton Naki Award for ground-breaking World first 3D Middle ear Implant/transplant pioneer, African Genius Award, American MacCque’s Who’s Who in World Medicine, FORBES Top 100 African Innovator in medicine, GQ Health man of the year. He is the face of innovative leadership by SA Tourism department, amongst many others.
