SUICIDE AWARENESS ONLINE EVENT – BREAKING THE CHAIN
Pretoria, Soshanguve -With the recent surge of suicide cases, the conversation about mental health wellness has never been more necessary. Botshilu Private Hospital will be hosting a webinar that is free for all to join, whereby mental health professionals will debunk mental health stereotypes and the growing danger of social media consumption for young people.
It is advisable for all people to join the forum no matter their age. It is time for African communities to have a better understanding of mental health and how our own habits contribute to, and impact, not only our own but those around us. The discussion will touch on how technology has given room for personal development, and when not carefully monitored, personal detriment.
“We saw how people are suffering emotionally, mentally, and physically, and just how the suicide rate is skyrocketing in just a blink of an eye, especially in teenagers, which is very disheartening. So as Botshilu Private Hospital, we joined hands together to reach out to all people across the country to ensure that they are all well-equipped, empowered, and informed on decisions on how to look after their mental well-being, and to take care of themselves emotionally.”, said Boitumelo Mphake, Stakeholder Relationship Manager.
The event will be hosted by clinical and mental health specialists with vast interest and research in the field of mental health. The discussion will touch on clinical diagnosis, assessing risk, preventative methods, and remedies.
