Dr Takalani Gidion Morulana embarked on his journey in the field of medicine, culminating in his remarkable career as a dedicated Paediatric Surgeon. He commenced his academic pursuit with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2011 at the esteemed University of Limpopo (MEDUNSA).
Following the successful completion of his studies, he began his professional journey with an internship at Leratong Hospital in Gauteng, gaining valuable clinical experience that would shape his future. Subsequently, Dr Morulana served his community through medical officer duties in the Polokwane/Mankweng complex, further honing his medical skills and dedication to patient care. It was during his tenure in the general surgery wards in Limpopo that his passion for paediatric surgery was ignited, setting the course for his distinguished career.
Driven by this newfound passion, Dr Morulana continued his educational journey by pursuing advanced studies in Paediatric Surgery through the College of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). His relentless dedication led to the prestigious achievement of a Fellowship in Paediatric Surgery (FCPS) in 2022, cementing his status as a specialist in the field.
In a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence, Dr Morulana went on to earn a Masters of Medicine in Paediatric Surgery from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in 2023. This significant accomplishment further underscored his dedication to advancing his knowledge and skills in the realm of paediatric surgery.
Dr Morulana’s passion for his work is vividly evident in his special interest in the management of paediatric colorectal conditions. His profound love for the young lives in his care is reflected in his personal commitment: “My undying love for the innocent children is unmatched, and I dedicate my time to learning more and offering all within me to resilient young lives”.
With his expertise and compassionate approach, Dr Morulana stands as a beacon of hope for children in need of surgical care.
