Dr Baby Rose Mfikwe was born, raised, and completed her matric in the township of Mabopane, Pretoria. She graduated from the University of Fort Hare, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1993.
Due to her love for medicine, she enrolled for a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) with Medunsa(Medical University Of Southern Africa), which she completed in 1998. Upon completion of her internship and community service, she worked in both private and public healthcare sectors where her love for dermatology developed. Being exposed to a lot of patients suffering from a variety of skin conditions, she finally followed a career in this discipline.
Dr Mfikwe then pursued her passion and trained as a Dermatologist at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU), previously known as Medunsa. She obtained her fellowship from the College of Dermatologists of South Africa (FC Derm) and a master’s degree in medicine, MMed (Dermatology) from SMU.
Dr Mfikwe is passionate about treating all kinds of skin, hair, and nail conditions. She enjoys practicing Dermatology especially as she gets to incorporate medical, cosmetic, and procedural dermatology in her practice. What makes her day is when the patients’ skin conditions get resolved and they leave her practice with smiles on their faces as they regain their confidence.
